People made the same argument 50 years ago when it was illegal for a white man to marry a black woman. After all, the Bible says in Ezra 9 that people shouldn't intermarry one race with another. And since the Bible says it and we always use the Bible to decide US law, and we can't 'redefine' marriage... You can see the 'logical' conclusion. It was a stupid argument then and it's a stupid argument now.
The short answer is this: I wouldn't necessarily be opposed, but we're comparing apples and oranges. A Christian marrying a non-Christian is sin for the Christian. But it's still a marriage.
The Bible provides two different categories for us here: what is acceptable Christian practice with the example you provide, and second, what is acceptable human practice in terms of all humanity.
You didn't answer my question, by the way.
Sorry about the length of time it took me to respond - I was traveling.
By the same logic, you should also be in favor of a heterosexual man marrying another man.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely not. Marriage has to be redefined for that to work.

ReplyDeleteThis ban still exists. Christians are not to marry non Christians.
ReplyDeleteSo it should be illegal for a Christian to marry a non-Christian?
That's a very complicated question.
